March 12-13, 2023 | Plains/MW/OV/GL Winter Storm

The models are showing some type of system flopping through these areas (though which areas remains to be seen, given the disagreements we're currently seeing). It does look like this storm will be the one to usher in a more 'staying' cold, though (not that most of us want that in mid-March, lol).

Thank you for the qualifier.  :classic_biggrin:

Anyway, Uncle Larry isn't too impressed by the upcoming cold....

But I digress.  Thanks for starting this, at least there's something to track.

It's hard to get the timing of the snowfall on this one, because the Canadian has it developing later, it seems like.

this would be a good look for a decent miller B here, especially if maybe we can get a couple MB stronger

RGEM is further north/stronger with the southern piece and south with the northern piece...I'd like to see 12-18 hours further

It's pretty evident the northern stream is going to just die out. So the hope for a phase is waning, that being said a 998 low skirting across the middle of the country would still be of interest

we need heights not to be so pressing, but that completely goes against  the trend for the year (SE trend), so pretty skeptical. But the 6z GFS kept it intact longer than prior runs. Other models still fizzle it out after IL

there's just a complete lack of any phasing, they stay completely separate. Would probably need either a stronger southern storm or a major relaxing of heights that allow the storm to cut earlier
