TheRex
This is my first attempt at opening a thread for a potential snow event. The GFS has been showing snow crossing from Ontario into Quebec and northern NY & northernNew England with some places seeing 6"+ of accumulation. The 12Z FV3 also is showing snow for the northern tiers of NY, VT, NH & ME. The NAM has a sharp cutoff with keeping the snow mostly in Canada. TheRex
Here's the 12Z NAM. Northern Maine seems to be the "main" snow event in the US. The region from Ottawa to Quebec City cashes in on this event plus that is the area that has been getting consistent storms for the month of January. Then maybe 10 of us. I'm hoping the GFS is correct and the NAM is wrong. I wouldn't mind seeing a little more snow this January.
Admin MaineJay Posted January 27, 2023 Admin Share Posted January 27, 2023 Pretty low PoPs over here lee of the mountains. Looks to usher in a seasonally cool airmass.
Moderators telejunkie Posted January 27, 2023 Moderators Share Posted January 27, 2023 Temps expected to be at 40F even at 1500' here (my house). Guessing snow lines will be pretty high in these parts. I'll still be dog-sitting in Manchester so definitely not expecting any white from this one. TheRex
Looking at the high-res models, there will be a big change of temp in a short period of time for some places on Sunday night/Monday morning. Going from spring type temps to winter temps in a matter of an hour or so for some places.
TheRex
We had a little snow this morning but currently cloudy and 36F. Less than 100 miles to my north, Montreal is at 14F and snowing. I'm hoping some people in northern Maine get some good accumulation from this system. Quote

TheRex
At 6:40 we were at 39F, at 7 PM we were down to 29F. I captured the local PWS temps in my area. It looks like the cold is slipping down the lake from Canada while the mountain areas to the east still haven't cooled off yet.

Seems like the cold has pushed out the moisture in this area. Any standing water is going to freeze quickly around here, so we may get the slick commute in the morning without any snow.
TheRex
Looks like the NAM was correct about limited snow in my area. We did get a 1/2" of microflake snow last night. Below is the snowfall map of accumulations in northern NY and northwestern New England. Quote

Moderators telejunkie Posted January 30, 2023 Moderators Share Posted January 30, 2023 Guess I haven't really been paying much attention recently. Sounds like we could get a couple inches tonight. Coming down pretty good out there at the moment. Already have a solid coating. Last night living as close as I'll probably ever get to being American royalty living on "the estate"....back to reality and my house tomorrow.
Moderators telejunkie Posted January 31, 2023 Moderators Share Posted January 31, 2023 (edited) 2” down and coming down at a moderate clip. Admin MaineJay Posted January 31, 2023 Admin Share Posted January 31, 2023 4" of pixie dust. Has to be 20:1 or better ratios. Even at top speed, barely any snow coming out of the chute.
TheRex
We had flurries last night but they stopped by midnight. Woke this morning to 2 1\2" of high ratio snow. It was a nice surprise. It was like blowing baby powder out of the snowblower. Sun is out now.
