Moderators Hiramite Posted February 18, 2022 Moderators Share Posted February 18, 2022 (edited) My sister spied this albino yearling deer in her backyard earlier this winter. Coincidentally, she had another one about 7 years ago or so that turned into a nice buck. Edited February 18, 2022 by Hiramite 3

jbrumberg
Another critter visitor last night. Our dog almost caught this opossum while on tether the other day. He did not get the possum, but he did manage to take down a stone wall in his efforts. EE2DA44DE96D-33e78694-wifi-2135.MP4

Admin Mainiac Posted May 14, 2023 Admin Share Posted May 14, 2023 This was a surgical strike performed by an experience operator. He skillfully lifted the lid, extracted the trash bag and then sat down to mock me with his feast. There are a few that resident bears in OH, plus some young males that wander in from PA every year. Had one on my trail cam back in 2009. In any event cool video, squirrels and raccoons are enough of an adversary for me and my bird feeders and trash cans.

Moderators Hiramite Posted June 16, 2023 Author Moderators Share Posted June 16, 2023 Had this doe approach the house the other day. First time I can remember one this close during the day. I scared her away after the pic as I didn’t want her getting a taste of and for the plantings around the house. Already enough nighttime browsing of our plantings taking place.

Did it appear to be laying eggs in the sandy soil? (And is this by the Coast or do you have patches of sandy soil like this around the State?)

The sand was mostly brought in as part of the site work. It tried 2 holes, but don't think it successfully deposited any eggs. We've just left the areas alone. She was good size, measured the carapace at 11". 1 1

jbrumberg
I took this picture during the last heat spell as I have never seen or remember seeing this posting behavior before. I found out today it's called splooting; which squirrels do to cool off. Science lesson over. Class dismissed🤓 1

One was in the yard last week and her face was covered! Edited July 10, 2023 by Hiramite 2
