December 8-10, 2023 | Severe Weather/Tornado Event

Day 2 slight risk up for a big positively tilted trough with decent shear, although not very favorably oriented, at least for overall tornado potential. Lapse rates look okay, not anything great but enough to get the job done, at least for December standards. CAPE looks solid for December.

The HRRR doesn't show much for now but I think initial cells growing upscale pretty quickly is the most likely outcome. Could certainly see some QLCS spinups though. Overall not a huge event but notable for December.

The HRRR actually shows some nice overnight cells in AR tonight, we'll see if any of those can actually form.
