Meteorologist ClicheVortex2014 Posted August 19, 2022 Meteorologist Posted August 19, 2022 Looks like at least the next few days will hold at least some severe potential for the eastern Midwest/OV. Certainly nothing worthy of anything more than a slight risk (for now), but it's August.

Chinook Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 I stayed at exactly this area in Des Moines a couple of times in the past, as I was on my Colorado to Ohio road trip. Today: very large hail.

btbucks Posted August 20, 2022 Posted August 20, 2022 Not sure how I am not under a watch or warning for T-storms.
Chinook Posted August 20, 2022 Posted August 20, 2022 9 minutes ago, btbucks said: Not sure how I am not under a watch or warning for T-storms. Max of about 58 dBz in Columbus with no warnings and no severe reports that I know of. There is no severe thunderstorm watch either. It is a pretty high value of dBz, but maybe a bit under the threshold for low-end hail/wind. I hope you are having a nice time at home watching the storm. 1
Meteorologist ClicheVortex2014 Posted August 20, 2022 Author Meteorologist Posted August 20, 2022 (edited) Constant, rolling thunder here. Definitely a bit of a weak microburst exactly where you’d expect it Edited August 20, 2022 by ClicheVortex2014 1
Meteorologist ClicheVortex2014 Posted August 20, 2022 Author Meteorologist Posted August 20, 2022 Wow, first full day in the house and we lost power for a few seconds after a lightning strike. Several minutes after we had a CTG strike that was visible for a few seconds.
Meteorologist ClicheVortex2014 Posted August 20, 2022 Author Meteorologist Posted August 20, 2022 Took this screenshot just 10-20 seconds before another lightning strike and another brief power outage
