Ohiobuckeye45 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Not sure if this snuck up or what.....but definitely needs a thread, we have plenty of NW OH/MI posters for it. Temps will be tricky at the onset, but a 995 low, the NW side stands a great chance at a surprise globals and short rangers both hit or miss on it, but I'd be more inclined to go with the short rangers here 1
Ohiobuckeye45 Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 if you want to get real crazy...
Jpfalcon Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 What do the snow depth maps look like? There will be some rain before this and surface temps have been rather warm the past few days - I have a hard time believing anything of significance is going to stick.
Mar66rus2 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Local Mets have been discussing the NYE snow more and more. Would be great two get 1-2 inches before the 5-7 storm.
Ohiobuckeye45 Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 992, coming in with a head of steam
Jpfalcon Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Local mets talking about slushy accumulations, so not going to get very excited IMBY. We shall see though. 1

Hoosier Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Unfortunately it looks like it could be a struggle around here. It's a marginal setup to begin with, and it looks like there could be just enough warmer air coming in from Lake Michigan (midlake water temps are still 40+ from what I can tell) to keep things rain or at least more of a mix.

Not getting sucked in like I used to. Have to taper expectations. Evaporative cooling is the major factor in this setup. Will someone be surprised tomorrow night? Absolutely. But where it will setup between Kalamazoo and Toledo is anyone’s guess. 7 hours ago, Jpfalcon said: What do the snow depth maps look like? I would like to think of this as a step-down event going into mid-January. This one light snow showers. Slushy and mess. Ground temps wayyy to warm for more than an inch if rates are impressive. Urban areas in Toledo will suffer the most. Where urban heat combats the evaporation. Edited December 31, 2024 by NWOhioChaser 1
