From CLE (11/17/24 AM):

Quote
By Friday, confidence is very high in northwest flow of moist, cold
air aloft over the Great Lakes region, resulting in a prolonged
period of lake effect precipitation downwind of the Great Lakes
through most of the weekend. Have precipitation in the forecast
areawide Friday through Saturday, with highest PoPs of 80-90%
downwind of Lake Erie in Northeast Ohio and Northwest Pennsylvania.
The signal from model guidance is quite impressive for this far out,
with mean 24-hr QPF of around 0.5-0.75" from ECWMF/GEPS (lower from
the GEFS) in the primary snowbelt region. Temperature and thus
precipitation type will be the challenging part of the forecast,
though it appears there is a good chance for periods of wet,
accumulating snow. Accumulating snow will be mostly likely in the
higher terrain of the snowbelt during the overnight period.

CLE snow reports:

Posted

From CLE for this coming weekend😒

...Even so, there is high confidence
cold air aloft over near record Lake Erie water temperatures
for numerous days, so we`re nearly guaranteeing accumulating
snowfall in the snowbelt region and likely to see significant
snowfall accumulations somewhere in the snowbelt.

Yeah, this time of year is always a downer for me because the lake effect zones get more than I do in two days than I get all season. But, have to remind myself, they’re in their own world when it comes to winter weather.

Predicted accumulations of 4-6 last night didn't materialize as the bands stayed north of us.

We got a coating on the grass and paved surfaces remained clear. ( and I'm ok with that.)

Hope it stays north as I have to travel today to 2nd Thanksgiving.
