Columbusbuckeye Posted November 14 Posted November 14 It looks like the week of Thanksgiving will usher in some Winterish vibes. It’s time for the lakes to wakeup. ❄️ 1
Moderators Hiramite Posted November 14 Moderators Posted November 14 A message from the CPC for the upcoming cold shot. 1
Moderators Hiramite Posted November 17 Moderators Posted November 17 From CLE (11/17/24 AM): Quote By Friday, confidence is very high in northwest flow of moist, cold air aloft over the Great Lakes region, resulting in a prolonged period of lake effect precipitation downwind of the Great Lakes through most of the weekend. Have precipitation in the forecast areawide Friday through Saturday, with highest PoPs of 80-90% downwind of Lake Erie in Northeast Ohio and Northwest Pennsylvania. The signal from model guidance is quite impressive for this far out, with mean 24-hr QPF of around 0.5-0.75" from ECWMF/GEPS (lower from the GEFS) in the primary snowbelt region. Temperature and thus precipitation type will be the challenging part of the forecast, though it appears there is a good chance for periods of wet, accumulating snow. Accumulating snow will be mostly likely in the higher terrain of the snowbelt during the overnight period.
Moderators Hiramite Posted November 20 Moderators Posted November 20 Quite the Lake response in NE OH. If it was only a bit colder…

Snowbelted Posted November 24 Author Posted November 24 From CLE for this coming weekend😒 ...Even so, there is high confidence cold air aloft over near record Lake Erie water temperatures for numerous days, so we`re nearly guaranteeing accumulating snowfall in the snowbelt region and likely to see significant snowfall accumulations somewhere in the snowbelt. 2

Moderators Hiramite Posted November 29 Moderators Posted November 29 Shaping up to be a whopper in extreme NE OH. You don't see these numbers very often: 1
NWOhioChaser Posted November 29 Posted November 29 Yeah, this time of year is always a downer for me because the lake effect zones get more than I do in two days than I get all season. But, have to remind myself, they’re in their own world when it comes to winter weather. 1
Snowbelted Posted November 29 Author Posted November 29 Predicted accumulations of 4-6 last night didn't materialize as the bands stayed north of us. We got a coating on the grass and paved surfaces remained clear. ( and I'm ok with that.) Hope it stays north as I have to travel today to 2nd Thanksgiving. 1
