We have WSW issued now. 00z GFS really cranks up totals. 13” IMBY with 15” just to my west. That would really slow the city down if it verifies.

With such a tight cut off I’m still concerned ice pellets might mix in and lower snow totals so it’s still something to watch. Right now GFS GEM and euro all have it mainly as snow for me so we’re looking good so far.

Upgraded from a wind advisory to a high wind warning today when winds started overachieving. Got a 69 mph gust at the airport... had like 4 hours of 50+ mph gusts. Several other 60+ mph wind reports from around the Panhandles too. Blowing dust caused brownout accidents around Amarillo and Dalhart.

All signs point toward tomorrow being worse.

Gonna be an interesting day around Detroit. Couple inches of front end snow and nearly a half inch of ice this afternoon and evening. Tomorrow will be a great work from home day, especially because my car will be frozen shut.

MMmm, 33 degrees and 2” of cold rain today. Come to papa.

I’ll trade you my half inch of ice for the 2” of cold rain any day.

Trees starting to glaze over here with moderate ZR and 31°.   (Not expecting any major amounts of ice though before the warm-up.)

I wish my weather app was right...."Heavy snow for the next hour", lol.

I think I’ll pass for today.  Thanks! 😆 let’s hope most of the ice will fizzle out as much as possible

Should be hotness coming out of MN later, looking forward to pics. Actually seen some cloud lightning on my way to work this morning, should top out around 60. Congrats to the folks cashing in the blizz, and good vibes to those in the ice zone.

Best map I could find showing the MI ice threat.

Only good thing is that it should warm to around 50 tomorrow so that should help clean up efforts and melt the ice pretty fast.

All models now basically have my area in the 9-10” area with the GFS the highest at 12”.

Euro probably did the best with the storm in the long range as it was often shown on the more south side. Nam took a long time to catch on as just the last few runs it’s raised totals at least for my area.

Now we’ll see how the storm turns out.

My first and last Obs picture for this event, lol, as temps have reached the freezing mark.

Good luck to those on the snow side of things.

Just made the drive from Flint to Troy. In a 50 mile difference, went from steady snow to ice. Didn’t take long for the roads to get slick. Gonna be a messy evening commute around here.

I’m at 6.2” on the season, I want futility records at this point. No pointless march and April stat padding lol.

If I'm getting snow after March 1, it better be significant. I couldn't care less about lame 2-4" events at this point - give me a blockbuster. Biggest snowstorm in my lifetime IMBY occurred in early March.

Sleet is coming down at a pretty good clip and things are really starting to ice over on flat surfaces. Hanging at 30 degrees so once that freezing rain starts, it’s going to accumulate fast.

Just drove about 20 miles SW, worse than I thought out there! More ice closer to home, seen several decent size branches down.  1-2” icicles hanging from some branches.
